Whisked! opened in May 2011, selling hand made baked goods at the 14th and U Farmers market. Founded by Jenna Huntsberger, a food blogger turned professional baker and small business owner, Whisked! has become a beloved DC institution, selling pies, quiches and cookies at local farmers markets and stores. Whisked! has been featured in the Washington Post, Every Day With Rachel Ray, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and was voted “Best Bakery” by the readers of the Washington Post Express. Whisked! pies are known as some of the best in the region and we have repeatedly been the runner up for “Best Pie” in the Washington City Paper’s “Best of DC” poll.
Originally from Eugene Oregon, Jenna was always a passionate baker, spending hours making cakes for her committee meetings in college at the University of Washington and baking through almost every recipe in Rose Levy Beranbaum’s The Bread Bible. In 2008 she started ModernDomestic, a blog about baking and pastry, which quickly became a local hit. On the blog, Jenna discussed the science of baking, shared favorite recipes, and interviewed DC area pastry chefs. In 2010 she decided to follow her passion and quit her full time job to become a baker at Treet, an online-based bakery. She worked at several other area food businesses, including Soupergirl and The Big Cheese Truck to learn the ropes before launching Whisked! in 2011.
Whisked! specializes in pies, quiches, cookies and other classic American baked goods. Whisked! is particularly known for our pies, which feature seasonal produce, a large variety of rotating flavors, and a perfectly flaky pie crust. Our quiches go far beyond the classic quiche lorraine - featuring produce like kale, zucchini, garlic scapes and locally grown tomatoes. Our cookies have been featured in the Washington Post’s holiday cookie edition, and our original flavors (like our Pretzel Cowboy Cookie) have gained a loyal following at our different markets. We produce our products at Union Kitchen, a shared commercial kitchen and business incubator in NOMA.
Hand made, from-scratch locally produced baked goods with a personal touch - that’s what we strive to provide every one of our customers. We hope you enjoy our baked goods as much as we enjoy making them for you.
